August 30th,2008 - The biggest of alumni meets in SJMSoM was held today. There was a lot of planning into the event. Firstly, calling up people. A team of 2 people was given the responsibility to call a batch. There were only 10 batches and a total of around 400 people database.

Given that the Alumni team is new, it is a good idea calling everyone. There were 17 volunteers for the event with logistics, room booking, hotel organization, getting faculty and setting up registration desks being the major responsibilities.

The schedule was 5-7 pm in SoM, where the faculty and the alumni met. However, not all alumni could make it there. After 7, we shifted to saffron spices. Here there was a small entertainment session followed by experiences/introductions by the alumni. It was good fun. I was a part of the calling and the registration desk team. Since not many Alumni turned up, it wasnt that difficult managing the event. There are a few things which can be improved for the next year.

Earlier invitations/bookings
The name tags were of low quality and it took a lot of time to make the id.
Getting more people from our batch, since we need a good number to see that there is no loss in the event. Like this year, just 20 odd of us had come for the event adding to the low alumni turn out.
Database is in developing stage and we will have to take it forward.
