A few seniors including Arpit who had done some projects in SInE, which is a incubation center here in IIT Bombay. They thought it would be great if we get introduced to entrepreneurship. They arranged a session, where they called in Ankur Gattani, who is an IITB&IIMC alumni. His idea was, i ll not say unique, but interesting called "lifeinlines.com". He talked about how he took the big step of dropping out of lucrative placements and what it takes to be a entrepreneur. The basic thing he said was tha t you have to take risk and have to have an connect with the idea.
Then, Anshul, an IIM-K graduate, who left his job in Deutche Bank and joined Quetzal talked to us. The MBA site tenaday.co.in is a part of this network. He joined as the CEO of the site. He said that this is a company in between that of a new idea and a fixed job. A lot of people got interested in this company(Quetzal), as he said they were flexible to take people for part time projects as well. And the company is situated in Andheri itself, making it easy for us to go.
Prof. Sonar too talked to us. His company, a company which is developing technology relating to Artificial intelligence started through SiNE. He talked about various competitions, his experience with Venture Capitalists and finally his current partners. It was really informative. This is a complete technology based innovation compared to the other too which are more web based.
None of us would probably have the chance to do our summers in Startups because of some rules by the Placecom which is understandable. We hope to see more Entrepreneurs from SoM in the future!
